– Maestro The Beatmaker
Lawrence Smith a.k.a. Maestro The Beatmaker was born in the lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, Lousiana on January 5th, 1981. His family unit was very close but his parents were determined to move their family away from the notorious streets of New Orleans. At the age of five, Maestro the Beatmaker moved to Montclair, NJ with his mother, father, and younger sister. As a kid, Maestro has always found a deep interest in music. Between his father’s old school music influence, his neighborhoods involvement in hip-hop, and his eclectic taste in musical genres, Maestro developed a unique ear for music. With early musical influences from artists like Wu-Tang Clan to Mozart, Maestro developed a unique ear and love for all genres of music. Maestro calls his production style “Cinematic Trap”, a deep blend of orchestral tones, 808’s, and sweeping melodies.
Maestro’s interest in music started when he noticed some of the older kids in his neighborhood going to a local studio. Rap crews like “Naughty by Nature” and “The Outlawz” were from the same neighborhood, and seeing rap stars from time to time gave him all of the motivation he needed. Maestro began freestyle rapping at the age of 16 with his best friend Reggie. He began writing lyrics and eventually, his love for rap grew into a love for producing.
Maestro started a small production company by the name of “Firehouse Productions” in 2004 with his good friend Shawn. He eventually moved on to join the group “The Hardtimerz” later in 2006 under the alias “Talent”. The Hardtimerz released nine (9) mix-tapes and two (2) albums over a ten (10) year period. Their music catalog consists of features by artists including T-Pain, Kxng Crooked, Fatal Hussein, El Da Sensai, The Outlawz and more. After his run with The Hardtimerz, he began to pursue the audio engineering production more seriously. In 2016 Maestro The Beatmaker launched maestrobeatshop.com and began to focus on music production and audio engineering full time.
Currently, Maestro The Beatmaker is actively shopping music to major artists, music labels, and film studios. His goal is to work with some of the biggest artists and names in the music and film industry as well as help emerging artists, producers, and engineers find their way through the music industry. So far in his music career, Maestro The Beatmaker has produced for over 50 artists worldwide, created over 500 original music compositions, and has laid verses on over 400 songs and counting. Maestro The Beatmaker has spent thousands of hours perfecting his craft and has over 19 years of music experience in songwriting, audio engineering, and music production.
